Classical literature and themes that never go out of fashion – true friendship and love. A heartfelt tale of three young men who after witnessing the horrors of the First World War are trying to regain their life.
“Three Comrades” is based on a play devised by director Regnārs Vaivars and inspired by the famous novel of Erich Maria Remarque by the same name. It’s a story about Robert, Otto, and Gottfried who make their living selling beat-up cars and live it up in bars with the company of women sharing their painful memories of the past. And when seemingly nothing can give life purpose anymore Robert meets Patricia. Despite pain and illness, she teaches the comrades not only to find the inner strength to live here and now but to accept the fleeting nature of all things.
“There lived three comrades who scorned life. One fine day they fell in love with a girl thus with life itself. See, how simple it is! It’s a beautiful beginning for a springtime fairy tale, but what will come of it when autumn arrives?”
