“Let’s be honest: “unannounced” is in fact simply brilliant.”

Honke Rambow, Rurhbarone, 09.06.2017.

"A ballet of fleeting appearances."

“NEXT Arts Festival”, 25.11.2017.

ABOUT PERFORMANCE

What is a chance occurrence and what is staged?

When does a show really start? And are you sure it hasn’t started already?

“unannounced” is a succession of unexpected events dismantling the boundaries between the inside and the outside of a theatre, between what’s happening and what seems to not be, between the stage and the wings. Six performers invite the audience on a mysterious journey beyond the visible and the familiar, towards a space that gradually transforms into a labyrinth.

Wordless companions draw attention to seemingly insignificant details that appear for a brief moment and disappear just as quickly. The everyday becomes extraordinary, while the line between the observer and the happening grows more and more blurred and conditional.

TANZ magazine has this to say about the performance: “With “unannounced” the “fieldworks” company has created an intelligent piece on theatre that reflects the multifaceted interrelations between text and space, set, audience and stage. The inventive lighting and sound artists have added their own – rather specific – take on things. And although the show doesn’t shy away from stage effects, at times reaching orgiastic, if not downright infernal, heights, the piece itself is restrained. This is thanks to its delicate humour and the heartwarming restraint of the performers.”

German outlet “Rurhbarone” writes: ““unannounced” packs a punch without making a fuss. It just happens. It’s an incredibly clever performance with a surprise constantly up its sleeve. “fieldworks” don’t skimp on theatrical techniques, but they handle their effects with such mastery that they never become disturbing. Our perception doesn’t end when we leave the theatre hall, it remains with us outside as a somewhat unreliable partner, always depending on what we expect, on where we direct or don’t direct our attention. Let’s be honest: “unannounced” is in fact simply brilliant.”
